Sally Richardson is one of Western Australia’s most experienced and respected independent producers working across the arts and is an Executive Producer with Ten Days on the Island Festival in Tasmania, Australia.
Sally has developed, produced over 30 original works through her companies Steamworks Arts and MAXIMA Circus, touring work regionally, nationally and internationally including producing work for Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, OzAsia, Beijing and Shanghai Festivals. She has showcased productions at markets including APAM, APAX (PAC), Borak Arts Series, ADAM (Asia Discovers AsiaMeeting), Dance Massive, China SPAF & others.
Sally has received a prestigious Creative Arts fellowship from WA Dept of Arts, andAustralia Council capacity building grants in cultural skills development and dramaturgy and is an Asialink alumni and Australia Council Arts Leaders program graduate. She is a past Director of Playworks, Stages WA and previous member of the Australia Council Theatre Board. She is currently Deputy Chair of CAN (Community Arts Network), on the artistic Advisory group for Black Swan Theatre Company & NICA, a professional associate with Co:3 Australia and a previous member of the LPA Helpmann Awards Theatre panel.
Sally Richardson has worked alongside teams of multi-disciplined artists including designers, performers, writers, composers and filmmakers, collaborating with emerging and established artists, companies, business and the wider community.
Sally has undertaken international residencies in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Iceland, UKand worked across Australia including in regional WA, NSW, SA and Victoria. Sally has created and produced challenging and relevant works that combine contemporary ideas with a powerful theatricality. She is passionate about breaking down the boundaries between different art forms exploring and developing new approaches and languages in the creation of Australian work. She has produced cultural and community engagement programs and one-off events for a range of clients.
