Aside from our residencies we offer a range of opportunities to foster a reflective practice amongst creative practitioners.

Our research, consultation and coaching activity creates a wholistic solution to supporting artists at all stages of their careers.

all that we are has been the national, if not international,
leader in providing a space for reflective practice of
artists. This is particularly the case for those that work
across community arts and cultural development
with a focus on those working with children and
young people.

  • For creatives stuck and feeling ready to get unstuck! We offer a range of mentoring and coaching opportunities, either individually or as groups. If you are coming on a residency with us you can sign up for a three-session coaching program to help you look at your practice and identify some future directions. These sessions are designed to begin or develop a process of reflective practice. The basic program consists of three one-hour session coaching sessions and can be included in your residency for an additional $480. Two sessions are undertaken during the residency and one is a follow-up 3-6 months later via Zoom. The charge for the three sessions is $600.

  • For organisations, teams, boards, creative developments

This is not your usual venue. Retreat to your own wing in a home filled with art, surrounded by 5 acres of bush, spectacular views of the Tasmanian coastline, and an outstanding home-cooked meal. Add to that all the AV gear you might need, break-out spaces, a great library, an optional DIY kitchen and endless coffee and healthy home-baked treats and it’s hard to go wrong.

The Learning Exchange is our way of bringing artists together to share and develop their practice. these peer-to-peer sessions, either face-to-face or online, provide democratic co-designed spaces for invited provocateurs to challenge approaches to practice. The learning Exchange has become our key tool to generate conversation, practice sharing and social change.

Programs and packages are tailored to suit your group. We can offer accommodation for small groups, or lodge in the city and join us during the day. We can also host evening experiences like Donor Dinners. Self-cater or let us look after everything for you. Add on local experiences (get your hands dirty with a master potter? Visit our 7 beaches?) or simply knuckle down and get to work.

Call us to enquire about prices. We can put an itemised and flexible quote together for you straight away.

  • For National and local organisations, Local Councils

We have worked with a range of organisations to support the development of enriching arts programming for children and families in particular. We can offer advice, strategic planning and support to devise new programming approaches for community engagement for arts projects, Councils and arts organisations.

Dr Simon Spain completed his PhD at RMIT in Melbourne in 2019 - you can see the abstract of his dissertation here. . Victoria Ryle is currently a part-time PhD candidate at UTAS. Research is increasingly a key part of the all that we are activity. (Find out more about her research here)

Simon’s generous and professional approach enabled deep thinking AND deep actions which are respectfully aligned with my goals and aims for the future. His generative mode teased out of me the directions and questions that were sitting there waiting to be fleshed out. The ultimate offering I have received from the coaching with Simon is honouring my value and contribution and putting into place the next steps for the development of my practice.
— Established visual artist, Adelaide

I have come away from both sessions feeling hope that I am hearing intelligent, compassionate healing intention from every person who shared.  Instead of beavering away alone, I now feel we are working for social change together, coming together to know we are not alone and that united we are quite a force.

Simon’s research provides the sector with legacy and gravitas to reclaim the work of those arts practitioners who paved the way for us today.
