Self Assembly
A public participatory creative encounter
“Self Assembly is a joyful and reflective work that speaks to our need to connect to each other and to find a kinetic relationship to cooperation and collaboration..”

About Self Assembly
Self Assembly is a public participatory art project where individuals craft a stick figure as a representation of themselves. Using fallen branches, participants assemble limbs, torso, and head, all bound together with plaster bandages. In order to stand the figures need to be connected together to balance. The process culminates in a collective display of figures, symbolizing a community. The activity is designed to be inclusive and adaptable, lasting from one to two hours and suitable for any group size, from a few individuals to larger gatherings.
This sequence of 20 images describes the process of making Self Assembly and the new Self Assembly XR.
