Kate is an oil painter interested in exploring her macro and micro landscape through paint and physical excursions. From her expeditions in the surrounding bush, she hopes that her work explores the beauty and tension of the place and her explorative process. She is hoping to translate the essence of a place rather than offering an explicit representation. Kate’s work's primary concern is the language of painting and expression of mark making. While on this residency Kate intends to create a body of site specific work on recycled materials. Oil paintings on sheets of metal (steel, aluminum and bronze if i'm lucky ;)) glass and scrap found in the local tip.
A collection of these paintings will be exhibited at Bett Gallery in March 2024 alongside some other local emerging landscape painters.
