Kerri McConchie in residence
Visual artist Kerri McConchie spent ten days at all that we are working on new video work. Kerri is a Melbourne based artist having recently completed the Master of Contemporary Art at Victorian College of the Arts. Her practice includes drawing, projection and installation with a focus on movement, memory and chance, and the sense of instability and unknowing through ambiguity and abstraction. Drawing combined with digital processes are employed to push the possibilities of transition, thereby creating another ‘being’ through distortion, repetition and transformation. Layers of memory, conscious reflection and unconscious drives form the basis of drawing that become expansive and immersive through projection. Her work during the residency involved making drawings by hand and then manipulating them using After effects into short, mostly linear and black and white, moving graphic images for projection onto the interiors and exteriors of building. Thanks for being here Kerri - we'd love to have you back again soon.
