Christopher Healey (PhD) writes music that ranges from the transfixingly tender to haunting and macabre. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Composition), Honours (Class I) and a PhD in Composition from the University of Queensland. He has studied with composers Gerard Brophy, Robert Davidson and American composer, Daron Hagen. Christopher has also received mentoring from Australian composers, Carl Vine, Christopher Gordon and Holly Harrison, as well as American composers, Nico Muhly, Christopher Cerrone, and Missy Mazzoli.
Commissions and performances have been sought by various professional ensembles throughout Australia as well as China, France, Holland, the U.S. His catalogue currently includes nearly one hundred compositions. Professional commissions include private supporters as well as well-known organisations and ensembles such as Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Omega Ensemble, Camerata Chamber Orchestra, 4MBS, the BRON Saxophone Quartet, BoB - Best of Brass, Ensemble Francaix, Ensemble Fabrique, Divisi Chamber Singers, the Nickson Quartet and many more.
