Deborah Williams is a nationally recognised visual artist living in Melbourne, Australia. She has held regular solo exhibitions since 1993 and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Australia and overseas. She studied fine art at Victoria College, RMIT and in 2011 completed her Master of Fine Arts by research at Sydney’s National Art School. She continues to teach and lecture in the Tertiary Education sector. Deborah is a keen observer of the canine realm and our own in relation to it. “When I look at dogs in and around me, I question whether dogs are seen for what they are, as separate beings. I observe that while we do not objectify our dogs per se, our feelings are frequently filtered through human perspectives; these dogs are therefore, anthropomorphised and brought unwittingly into our worlds” Her work has been acquired by many public, university and private collections in Australia and Internationally including Portland Art Museum, Oregon, USA; University of Melbourne, Baillieu Library Special Collections, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
