The Boy who fell to Earth by Simon Spain
Simon graduated as a printmaker in Brighton in the UK in 1982 and has made made work in a variety of forms ever since. He is best known in Australia for his work establishing ArtPlay – a creative centre for children and families in Melbourne and continues to work in this sector. However he has continued to create artworks in a variety of forms most recently exhibiting work created with iPad and resulting in digital prints. In recent years he has undertaken several residencies in Bundanon and most recently in Tokyo. Having completed his masters in 2015 he is now a full-time PhD student at RMIT in Melbourne, works in his studio making painting and digital artworks and runs a new artist residency initiative with Victoria Ryle just outside Hobart in Tasmania.
